Event: Stepping Feet-The Dave Matthews Experience

Description: Stepping Feet delivers the energy and musicianship that fans have come to appreciate when watching the Dave Matthews Band. From the very beginning of a Stepping Feet show to the very end fans will experience sizzling violin solos, soulful sax lines, thunderous drum fills, signature guitar riffs, extended jams, and powerful vocals. What makes the Dave Matthews Band so fun to see live is their impromptu jams and varying arrangements of their music. Stepping Feet takes that concept and applies their own interpretation to the songs which creates exciting musical moments at each show.

The Story of Our Beginnings:

Stepping Feet was founded in early 2002 when it became clear that there was demand for a Dave Matthews tribute in SoCal. Original founders Mike Myrdal and Sam Johnson teamed up with Rob Higgins and Mike Apple to form a cover band Green Eggs & Sam. Over time it became apparent that our staple was performing Dave Matthews music. We saw the opportunity to take it to the next level and started looking for a violin and sax player. After building some momentum as Green Eggs & Sam, the folks at Dr. Seuss took exception to our band name and we were forced to change it. Stepping Feet is a subtle reference from one of Dave's early songs. Can you guess which one?

Local violin player Bahman Sarram and local jazz sax player Bob Bertosik were added to round out the DMB sound. While we were continuously adding fans it wasn't until Jesse Molloy (saxophone - On The One) and Jennifer "spags" Spingola (violin) were added to the band that things started to take off for us. Looking to complete our sound and perform genuine DMB-type shows, we added good friend Jeremy Miller (40 Ounces to Freedom) on the keyboards.

Kevin Dooley's laid back SoCal attitude and golden locks threw us off when he first auditioned, but once we heard him on the kit we were sold. "There's no need to go any further with the auditions. You've found your next drummer" a confident Kevin Dooley says to Mike & Sam @ his first audition. After listening to him play some of the trickiest tunes and pass with flying colors, we booked him for a two-day audition up in Mammoth Mountain where it was all or nothing. Only Mike & Sam had heard him play so the rest of the band was a little nervous. Let's just say Kevin passed the test. After the first night, we sat around at a band dinner, ordered some ceremonial shots (and hula pie for Dooley) and welcomed him to the band.
