RT's Story

RT's Story

Ron Trenton, "RT" to his friends, was lost at sea on February 11, 1997 while returning from Catalina Island in his Piper Cherokee aircraft. An Experience flyer, his disappearance remains a mystery.

At the time, Ron was the senior beach lifeguard for the City of San Diego. With nearly 30 years of experience, he was credited with more than one thousand rescues. It was his dream to retire from the lifeguard service and open a restaurant on this location. When it appeared that his dream would go unfulfilled, brothers Doug and Craig stepped up and decided to do it in his memory, hence the name "RT's" LONGBOARD GRILL.

Besides life guarding, flying and restaurant planning, RT was a accomplished writer. His published book "Dangerous Cargo" is available at his restaurant, with all of the e proceeds going to the memorial fund set up in his honor.

Scholar, mentor, hero, adventurer, lifeguard extraordinaire, brother and friend.
